Why does AG refer to these dolls as keepsake dolls? Why have women from 20 years ago featured on the cover of the new magazine with their dolls from when they were young girls? Someone please help me understand AG's repeated responses to collectors that these dolls are play dolls only and not meant to be collectors items.

I think they think a keepsake and a collectors item are different.

Collectors items are things that are made to be collected. They are kept in mint condition and rarely touched, but have percieved value.

A keepsake is something used and cherished. Like an old family quilt that is somewhat ragged because it's been used for 150 years.

I understand they want to keep the dolls playthings that will be cherished, and I laud that.

But if they aren't collectors items- why are there limited editions?
